Using this service
You can use the NCFE Skills Assessment Tools service to take initial, diagnostic and summative assessments along with viewing learning resources.
We want as many people as possible to be able to use this service. For example, this means that you should be able to:
- Change colours, contrast levels and fonts
- Zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen
- Get from the start of the service to the end using just a keyboard
- Get from the start of the service to the end using voice recognition software
- Listen to the service with a screen reader (including most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and Narrator)

How accessible the service is
We know some parts of this service are not fully accessible:
- Not all elements of the service have been labelled correctly.
- Not all elements of the service meet colour / contrast standards.
- The heading level structure has been missed from a majority of pages.
- When zooming to 400% using the browsers zoom, the service does not reflow into a single column.
- Not all elements of the service can be accessed by using the keyboard only.
- Some of the pages within the service have been titled incorrectly.
- Not all elements of the service follow a logical tabbing order.
- It is not always possible to tell where the visible focus is on screen.
- Portrait view on a mobile is not always fully accessible and landscape is preferred when attempting assessments.

Orientation Description of defects: There was 1 defect still present in this criterion, which states that wherever possible, content is not restricted to one display orientation (Portrait or Landscape) and should be suited to the users' needs. Where a user decides to lock their entire device to an orientation, all applications are expected to pick up that setting and to display content accordingly.
We plan on resolving this over time but is at a very deep technical level across the site.
